Peavey Hollywood–Grand Opening Event

The Peavey Hollywood Grand Opening took place this afternoon.   With what was announced, it seemed like an event that was too good to pass up.

The showroom was very interesting and it seemed like it was going to be a cool event, but ended being rather disappointing on a few levels.

I got there around 4:00 and cruised around the shop.   That proved to be a bit early.  That’s Hartley Peavey out front.

It’s a pretty cool showroom (the Jack Daniel’s stuff is really cool), but standing/ wandering around in the small space for 2 hours got rather tedious.  There’s only so much time you can stare at a guitar.

Alex Skolnick was slated to play at 5:00PM and Metalachi was to play at 6:00PM.

Alex and band didn’t really hit the stage until after 6:00. They played a whopping 16 minutes.  It was awesome, but it was practically over before it started.

Thinking Metalachi was going to play in a little while, I went to the restaurant a few doors down (El Compadre), had a seat and grabbed some food while I pondered making a somewhat considerable equipment purchase on my return.

When I came back a short while later to watch Metalachi, I was told I had to be on some “list” and wasn’t re-admitted.

This was announced/ advertised as a public event and nothing to the contrary was indicated otherwise.

I spent a lot of time in traffic to be here, so that was a real bummer.

BTW, the Peavey showroom was by far the least impressive of the several showrooms I’ve visited this year…..

Sorry you were disappointed. I think bad timing was the main issue. What you saw of Alex for 16 minutes was an extended sound check becasue so many people were in the audience. They finished that, took a break and that must have been when you went to eat. They came back on and played a good set. The Metallachi show was open to the public and you should have been allowed in. Originally Alex was to be VIP event outside but was changed and all access should have been given. Sorry for the comfusion.

Thanks for the reply. These things happen. I don’t regret going, but it certainly didn’t turn out the way I had imagined it would (I wanted to be out of there by 8 at the latest anyway). Oh well. At least I can cross seeing the new Peavey showroom off the list… All wasn’t lost… I saved over $1K by not buying a certain grey 7 string baritone guitar, dinner at El Compadre was awesome and the show I caught later on elsewhere was cool, too.
