Way over 100 shows in 2012- a personal record!
What a cool show. This is music for people that appreciate good music. I met up with a couple local buddies that brought along their friends. It turned out all those friends seemed to know each other (small world), so it was a cool time from the get-go. The table we were sitting at was right near where Carl Verheyen was sitting (2nd picture, far right).
Robben Ford- guitar/ vocals
Michael Landau- guitar/ vocals
Jimmy Haslip- bass
Gary Novak- drums
Renegade Creation played The Canyon last year. That was a great show, but I think this time was even better.
What an incredible band they are. This is truly a “super group” in the blues/ jazz circles. Each one plays so remarkably well, it’s almost overwhelming.
The songs from their new album sounded really good. I also liked the singing a lot more this time around. One of the songs off the new album is a Bob Dylan tune. Good stuff. Their set clocked in at roughly 90 minutes. At the end, I was ready for 90 more minutes.
They are really nice guys, too. Like last time, they were happy to hang back to greet the fans, sign merchandise, and snap some pictures. It’s not very often you see a band this great that is so accessible to the fans.
Between all the cool people in the crowd, on stage and the pleasant atmosphere, this was one of the most enjoyable shows I can remember in quite some time.
