Way over 100 shows in 2012- a personal record!
Urban Dread has been around for quite a while.
I remember seeing them for the first time when I was a teenager at a party at Calamigos Ranch in the early 90s.
They’ve been a big name on the local scene even longer than that.
I brought my kids out to the Janss Mall to watch them play one of the last installments of the Summer Concert Series.
They sounded great. They’re a good, solid band. It was really cool when the singer/ keyboardist played the sax on a few tunes. Everyone from seniors to babies were dancing to their tunes. They played some familiar reggae tunes and I really liked their version of “Englishman In New York” by Sting – they put a really good reggae spin on that tune. They also did “Evil Ways” by Santana, popular songs by Jason Mraz, Men At Work and quite a few other good, recognizable songs. A fun time was definitely had by all.
