Way over 100 shows in 2012- a personal record!
I got to this show after the UFC and a quick trip to the Rainbow for dinner. They went on at 9:30. I had heard some of their tunes and didn’t really know what to think. My main motivation was to see Vinny Appice on drums and Rex Brown on bass, of course. I figured it would be fun to go for the experience and see a killer drum solo, but I had no idea how much this band rocks live.
Eddie Trunk came out and introduced the band. He sure is catching a lot of shows while he’s in town this week filming That Metal Show.
Some of their music has kind of a laid-back Alice in Chains sort of vibe to it (the opening song “We’re All Going To Die” is a prime example- the chorus and even the song title confirm that one), while the rest of it is just straight up rip-roaring metal. Dewey Bragg’s screams and growls were killer. WHOOAAA!!! They did every song off their debut album and they totally killed it. The song “Revenge” has a really cool groove. The band’s mix was really good and I really liked how clearly you could hear the bass and the vocals. Mark Zavon’s guitar work was really cool- he threw in a lot of effects and groovy playing into the mix. I’m really glad I went to this show and I’m definitely a fan now!
