Way over 100 shows in 2012- a personal record!
CTA was the main act and they played a good set of familiar tunes. I think this was my fifth time seeing them in the last few years, and their set list hasn’t changed much, if at all. Having said that, the musicians were incredible (Marc Bonilla is a great guitar player, Ed Roth is great on keyboards and Luis Conte is a percussion master), the horn section and vocals jammed and having two original members from Chicago with Danny Seraphine and Bill Champlin wasn’t a bad deal, either. I’d encourage anyone that likes Chicago and “mature” classic rock to check them out next time they are in town.
Where’s Waldo? He was at the Canyon!
I was kind of bummed that Jetstream didn’t play as a band. Their singer got up and did a solo acoustic set. It was pretty good, but the group in attendance was really looking forward to checking out Jetstream in their normal rock band context. Oh well.
Daylight Echo was the opener. They played a really good set of tunes and show a lot of promise as an up and coming band.
