Way over 100 shows in 2012- a personal record!
I bought a ticket to this show months ago. In doing so, I knew next to nothing about this band. I checked out part of one of their videos and I was completely sold on seeing them live. Plus, from what I read, it seemed like it was going to be quite a theatrical event (and they did a great job in hyping up the show), so that made me want to get a ticket even more. For some reason, I just had to go. I’m glad I did- it was one of the best and most original shows I’ve seen in a long time. Saddle Ranch even kissed up to the early birds.
The band is from Finland. Anette Olzon is the name of the singer and I think she is from Sweden. She rocked and the entire band was killer. They were sort of like a world music-type metal band. What an incredible production. A lot of the music was symphonic pop metal-oriented with theatrics, great backdrops and awesome pyrotechnics, but some of the show was just downright heavy metal bordering on thrash. The mostly young crowd was very into it- I had no idea they had such a loyal following here. And this is real music, so it was neat to witness people really enjoying something good for a change. I now understand why they have such a strong international following. So far, I’d have to give it the show of the year! I’ll definitely be going out and getting their entire catalog of music soon!
